| Welcome
The Association was established to co-ordinate recreational
activities for the Deaf in Alberta; to promote the competition
of athletes at local, provincial, and national levels; to
establish a central office where information could be received
and distributed throughout the province; and to select Alberta
athletes to compete in national championships for the Summer
/ Winter Deaflympics.
As the deaf population increases in a local region, a sports
club / association can be formed and affiliated with the ADSA
and automatically with the Canadian
Deaf Sports Association.
Mission Statement:
ADSA supports Deaf athletes, of various levels of ability to participate and excel in national and international competitions. We do this by fundraising, providing training and education and by partnering with our members and Deaf and Hearing sport organizations. Sustainability, respect for individuals and open communication guide our operations.
Vision Statement:
ADSA is a strong organization supporting Deaf athletes to participate and excel in national and international championships in 20 different sports. Our membership is diverse and includes a strong contingent of younger people who are becoming energetic long term volunteers of ADSA. We now have a healthy collaborative partnership with CDSA (Canadian Deaf Sports Association) as well as other key organizations such as Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation, Provincial Deaf Sports Associations and National Deaf Sports Organizations. We are proud of the staff team and office that so capably support our volunteers.
Values
The following values statements guide the decisions and actions of the ADSA
• We believe in open, honest and
responsive communication.
• Our work is guided by integrity,
mutual respect and trust.
• We celebrate diversity at all levels
of participation.
• Our organization is dynamic and
action-oriented.

The programs of this association are financially supported
by Alberta Sport, Recreation Parks & Wildlife Foundation.
